YSR’s wife not inclined to contest Pulivendula by election

Amid reports that the Congress leadership was likely to nominate Y. S. Vijayalakshmi, wife of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, as its candidate for the Pulivendula Assembly byelection, her brother said she was not inclined to contest.

Mrs. Vijayalakshmi and her family members recently called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi at the latter’s invitation which gave rise to speculation that the Congress high command was keen on fielding her from Pulivendula instead of her son Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, who is an MP.
